A cancellation checklist
Keep a careful record when cancelling a subscription.
Cancellation screens can be easy to misread, and a provider may require more than one confirmation step. SubmitSentry can help you keep a local record of the ordinary details you choose before you cancel and the visible result afterward.
Install free from the Chrome Web StoreFive captures are included free. Lifetime access is €9.99 once.
Before you cancel
- Review the provider's cancellation instructions and any stated renewal or end date.
- Capture only ordinary details you may need later, such as the service, plan, visible cancellation option, and stated date.
- Remove passwords, full account numbers, payment-card or bank details, secret answers, private correspondence, and anything else that should not be stored.
- Save the local record, then return to the provider and complete every required cancellation step yourself.
After cancellation
Attach the provider's own confirmation page or reference when available; prefer those over an email. If an email is the only confirmation, open it in an isolated message view and check SubmitSentry's screenshot and text preview for unrelated personal content before saving. The provider's own confirmation and account status remain authoritative. Keep watching future statements for unexpected charges.
Know the limit: a local SubmitSentry record is not proof that the provider received or accepted a cancellation. SubmitSentry does not cancel subscriptions, monitor billing, contact providers, file a dispute, guarantee a refund, or provide legal advice.
If no confirmation appears, contact the provider through an official channel. If a later charge appears, contact your payment provider promptly and follow the rules that apply to your account and location. For U.S. consumers, the FTC explains what cancellation records to keep, and the CFPB explains credit-card billing disputes.
Receipt content stays in Chrome on your device and is never sent to SubmitSentry's service.
